Church Picnic September 7th at the Church

The Activities Committee has planned an old fashioned picnic for us that will begin around 12 noon and everyone is invited to join the fun.

For lunch, the fried chicken will be provided (along with an alternative for those who don’t eat chicken) and we’re asking everyone to bring side dishes and dessert to share potluck style.

After lunch we will have a variety of old fashioned picnic games going on around the church grounds such as sack races, three legged races, egg race, bean bag toss and more.

We are looking for volunteers to help with the games and clean-up and if you can help please circle “V” on your information sheets and turn them in during worship. Plan to come and have a good old fashioned time.

Changes in Wednesday Night Activities  Bible Study to Resume September 10th

Due to changes in personnel, and desiring to best use the time and talents of our volunteers, this next year we will not be offering a youth meeting, Wednesday Night Kids or Simple Meal as part of our Wednesday night schedule. There will be a Bible study meeting at the church at 7 p.m. and everyone is invited to attend.

PROJECTION OPERATOR NEEDED  Keeping the song lyrics, scriptures, sermon illustrations and announcements up on the screen at the right time is an important part of our worship service. Are you interested in becoming a part of this ministry? The commitment averages 2 Sunday mornings per month, and training is provided. School Supply Drive

Many families in the local community cannot afford to provide school supplies for their children and we want to help. Below is a list of supplies that we are collecting to share with students in need at Howard Elementary. You will notice that some of the supplies are listed by their brand name and educators tell us that is because even though they may cost a little more, those brands provide better bang for the buck. A collection box for these supplies is in the main hallway. The deadline for bringing in supplies is Sunday, August 17th.

Supply List :

12 pack Ticonderoga brand pencils, 24 count Crayola crayons; pencil top erasers; large erasers; 12 count Crayola color pencils; 8 count Crayola color markers (washable); glue sticks; bottles of white glue; rulers; pencil pouches; red, blue, yellow and green pocket folders, notebook paper; pens; solar calculators; 3 ring binders; pocket dividers for binders; 3×5 lined note cards; spiral notebooks; Kleenex tissues; backpacks.

Help Wanted  We are currently looking for people who would like to serve in the Holy Grounds coffee ministry during the fellowship time on Sunday mornings. Training will be provided. If you are interested or have any questions please see Nate Swift.

Holy Grounds Proceeds to Child Evangelism of Jackson County For the last few years all of the Holy Grounds Coffee shop proceeds and tips have gone to building houses in Mexico. The decision has been made to share the proceeds with other ministries too, and through December the proceeds and tips will go to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Jackson County. So, buy a drink and help share the love of Jesus with the kids in our area!

How does this passage encourage you? How will you respond?

Tuesday – Read Colossians 3:5-14

Wednesday – Read Colossians 3:15-17

Which of these do you find to be the most challenging to do?
Ask the Holy Spirit to continue His work of growth in you.

Thursday – Read Colossians 4:2-6
Why is it important to be watchful and prayerful and for God to open the door for us to share His love and truth?
Paul asked for prayer as He shared Jesus, what does that say about our need for prayer?
Why is it important that our conversation with people who do not yet know Jesus be full of grace and seasoned with salt?
Pray for the Spirit to be at work in and through you.

Friday – Read I Corinthians 16:13-14
