William Anderson is working on his Eagle Scout project. The project is a portable wall ball wall to be used for DHS supervised visits for children in foster care to play with their parents. Many kids have requested a way to play wall ball with their parents during this time. William would appreciate any donations to purchase supplies for this project. Please memo your donation Eagle Scout project and place it in the offering on Sunday. Thank you.

Friends Women Fellowship   Our annual potluck meeting to conclude the program year is Thursday, July 18th on Billie Taylor’s patio! A special invitation to all women whose schedules are free to join us. Lunch set up will be at 11:45 a.m. (regular members will have a shortened meeting for business at the usual 10:30 start time.

Box Tops for Education  If you have box tops to be passed on to FWF please turn them in by Sunday, July 14th, so they can be included in this year’s final tally. Thank you!

Yearly Meeting Annual Sessions – July 21-24, 2019

“Fresh Vision”    

Held on campus at George Fox University

Brockie Follette is a Certified “Growing Young” Presenter for the Fuller Youth Institute, with a special focus on the Friends Church.  She serves as the Director of Kaleo Academy (the National Friends Youth Training experience) held at Barclay College, where she also leads students as the college Chaplain.  Brockie will be featured as a workshop speaker each morning and as a guest in one of the evening sessions.

Jim Le Shana, Superintendent of Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends Church is a graduate of George Fox University, Jim shared here earlier this month at our area meeting. He is convinced that the best days for the Friends Church are still ahead, but that many of us today may need a “fresh vision” – to see ourselves, the world, the needs, and the opportunities around us with greater hope and clarity from God’s perspective.  Jim will serve as our primary speaker in the evening sessions.

June 2nd is Promotion Sunday! We are recognizing those who are changing departments. Congratulations to Payshens Cichy going into 6th grade, Leo Crossett going into 7th grade, Chyna Crossett and Skylar DuLong, both going into 9th grade. William Anderson graduated from North Medford on June 1st, he will continue his education at George Fox University in the fall. Following worship there will be a time of fellowship with refreshments to celebrate the occasion! 

Southern Oregon Area Meeting
We invite all who are interested in the health and growth of their local church and our yearly meeting to join us at the Southern Oregon Area Meeting which will take place at Medford Friends on Wednesday, June 5th at 6 p.m. The area gatherings are planned to be both inspirational and informational.  Part of the meeting will be a “meet the Superintendent” time and Jim Le Shana will share some vision for Northwest Yearly Meeting and our churches.  The clerks will provide information on task force work, and there will be some final time for questions and answers.

We will hold an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, April 21st. Your donations of bags of individually wrapped candy that will fit in small plastic eggs are welcome and much appreciated for this fun event. There is a box in the main hallway to place your candy donations in on Sundays.

Drew and Ashley Krupp’s new little one is almost here! Please join us in showering them with love and diapers and wipes! We will have a little celebration Sunday, April 14th during fellowship time between the church service and Sunday school hour. We will have some snacks and a time to congratulate the Krupp family. Please bring wipes and diapers of any size to shower them. They do so much for us and our children. Now is a chance to love them back!

This year’s EFM 2019 Easter Offering will go to support EFM’s ministries in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Ecuador, India, Ireland, Mexico, Nepal, Philippines, & Rwanda, and will be taken Easter Sunday.  Please be in prayer about the opportunity to share in this offering.

We will not meet for an All Church Potluck in April. Our Next All Church Potluck is Scheduled for Sunday, May 19th.

The Stewards Committee is looking for 1-2 people to join our committee. The work of the Stewards is to oversee the building and finances of the church. If you are interested please contact Mark Burton.

For the last several years Billie Taylor has been our Everence representative. Thank you Billie for all that you’ve done! Our connection with Everence provides us with money we can use to help those in financial need. Billie is willing to work with the next representative for a year to train them. Our Elders Have a New Project for our Church Family to Participate in… It Will be Announced this Sunday, March 3rd.

The River Returns to MFC –The River is a Celtic inspired worship group comprised of members from many different Rogue Valley churches.  They will be leading our time of worship in music this Sunday, March 3rd.

Be sure to set your clocks ahead 1-hour Saturday night, March 9th.

Please come join us at Medford Friends for an“All Church Worship Jam and Sing-a-long”Saturday evening March 16th. at 6:30 P.M.  

We will be singing selected songs from the “request lists” that were shared.  “Worship Jam” means instruments too.  If you play an instrument and would like to join us please bring it.  Song sheets with guitar chords will be provided.  If you would like music or need it in a key other than what the piano plays in please contact Deanna Mann.  Also let her know if you would like the music or chord sheets a week ahead to practice with.  Following the celebration in music there will be a time for fellowship.  Please bring simple finger foods and snacks to share.

What are Your Favorite Hymns and Choruses?

The activities committee is planning an event for Saturday, March 16th. More information will be shared about this in the near future but for right now we need your help. Please let us know what worship songs, hymns and choruses you like to sing. You can write them on the Information Sheet in Sunday’s bulletin and turn them in with the offering. We will be collecting these through Sunday, February 24th. Thank you!

Ladies Annual Ornament Exchange will kick off the Christmas Season on Friday, December 7th at 6:30 p.m. Invite a friend and join us for a celebration of Christ’s Birth! Share in the joy & laughter as we fellowship together, interact with the story of the First Christmas and exchange ornaments. Everyone bring a wrapped ornament and finger food for sharing!

Some of us are gathering on Thursday night the 6th at 7 p.m. to decorate the church. The help of all ladies will be welcomed.

 

Brett and Cindi Garrett have announced they are stepping down after leading worship at Medford Friends Church for 25 years. They will be leaving MFC at the end of the year. There will be a celebration of all God has done over these past 25 years on December 9, at 11:00, following the worship service, no Sunday School that day.

 

We look forward to our Preschool and Koinonia Kids sharing Christmas songs during the 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday, December 23rd.

Our traditional “Come As You Are Family Celebration” will take place Sunday, December 23rd, at 6:30 p.m. Please join us in the sanctuary, followed with a time of fellowship. Please bring finger food to share.

There will not be a Christmas Eve service on the 24th.

 

Operation Christmas Child – Shoebox Gifts

We are so excited! A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped pack shoe boxes, and huge thank to everyone for their donations of filled boxes, and things to fill boxes for Operation Christmas Child – 118 boxes were taken to the drop off center and shipping costs were met!

Operation Christmas Child – Shoebox Gifts

Bring a sack lunch and join us on Sunday, November 4th after Sunday School & Bible Study for our “Build a Box” fellowship time!

If you would like to donate to the cost of shipping the shoeboxes, please designate your donations. This year the cost of shipping one box is $9, as of last Sunday we have collected $1,224 for shipping and currently have 31 boxes that have been filled! 

Thank you to everyone who has donated gift items and shipping cost, it’s exciting to see our church family come together to bring the love of Jesus to children throughout the world. Again, thank you!

 

Friends Women Fellowship will meet at MFC on Thursday, November 15th, at 10:30 a.m. All ladies are welcome to join us in the fireside room. Following the meeting there will be lunch.

 

The Annual Thanksgiving/Christmas Bake Event

Our all church potluck will have a Thanksgiving theme, so please bring generous side dishes and desserts that compliment a festive holiday dinner! Turkey and ham will be provided.

2018 NWYM Thanksgiving Offering

This year's offering is for camp scholarships for the NWYM camps, including Quaker Cove, Quaker Hill, Tilikum, and Twin Rocks. These scholarships help campers attend camp who would not be able to attend otherwise. We will take our offering on Sunday, November 18th.

 

Sunday – Nov. 18th MFC Sunday School Outing

Grades 1-6 – Depart at 1:15 p.m. after the church potluck and return to the church at 3:45 p.m.

Come with us to Astral Games – we will depart right after the Thanksgiving Potluck and return by 3:45 p.m.
