For the next few weeks all of our home study will be based on the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends Church's 50-day Prayer Journal
Monday – Read Psalm 145:1-2
Home many times in these verses does David promise to extoll or praise the name of God?
Extoll means to glorify or make known. List three reasons God is deserving of your worship.
How might it change each day if you started by reflecting on God and extolling Him? Take time to do that each day.
Tuesday – Read Psalm 145:3-7
Do you spend time each day praising and extolling God?
What can you do to help the “next” generation to know God?
Take time to pray for our children and youth (at MFC and in NWYM) and the people who work with them.
Find a way to share God’s truth with some who is younger than you.
Wednesday – Read Psalm 145:8-12
How is God described here, what stands out to you?
Do you think this is how most people view God? Why or why not?
How have you experienced God’s grace and compassion in the last year? The last month? The last week? Today?
Ask God to prepare you to speak of Him to someone today.
Thursday – Read Psalm 145:13-16
What are some ways that God has provided for you?
Verse 15 speaks to God meeting needs in the proper time, remember some times when God’s timing was perfect in meeting your needs.
Take time to remember what God has done in your life and give Him thanks.
Friday – Read Psalm 145:17-21
What stands out to you in this passage?
Name at least five promises found in this prayer.
How have you seen these promises to be true in your life?
Take some time to pray these promises for yourself and for someone else who you know needs them.

In verse 19, what kind of relationship does God say that He wants with His people?

How can we avoid being unfaithful to God as our Father?

How do we become children of God?
How should that impact and change our lives?
What is the difference between being a slave and being a child?
As heirs of God, with Jesus, what do we have to look forward to in our lives on earth and in eternity?
How should that impact how we live?

How does Jesus describe God here?
What hope does this give us as we pray?
What warning does God give us in verses 14 and 15?
How should this passage change the way that you view God, yourself and others?

Thursday – Read Matthew 4:12-17
Here Jesus is applying a passage from the prophet Isaiah to Himself.
What is meant here by the “shadow of death?”
Who is the light?
How does the light chase away the shadow?
What hope does this give you?
Friday – Read Zechariah 12:10 and Romans 11:25-26
In these days, why has God kept the Jewish people from seeing Jesus as the Messiah?
What difference did it make in your life when you received Jesus as your Savior?
What will happen when the Jewish people finally recognize Jesus as the Messiah?
Pray for the people in your life who need to accept Jesus and for God’s plan of Salvation for all people to be fulfilled.

Why were the Israelites called to give over to the Lord the first born male of humans and animals?
In verse 13 what are parents called to do with the first born sons they commit to the Lord?
How can we commit our children to the Lord today?

What does it mean to be a living sacrifice to God?
Why are we to offer ourselves as living sacrifices to God?
